Senator Hoeven speaks on the importance of DAPL

NORTH DAKOTA (KXNET) — Earlier in the month, a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit brought by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe that was trying to shut down the operation of the Dakota Access Pipeline.
Senator John Hoeven says that the pipeline is essential to our state and national security.
The Dakota Access Pipeline transports more than half a million gallons of crude oil daily from North Dakota to Illinois.
Senator Hoeven says the North Dakota oil industry will only continue to grow with the use of pipelines.
“This pipeline has all of the latest greatest technology features. Dakota Access Pipeline has been operating safely now for almost eight years, it moves 800,000 barrels a day of light sweet crude, the best in the world, from North Dakota to eastern markets that we would otherwise have to get from places like OPEC and so forth,” Hoeven said.
