Fact: Energy Transfer did not disturb culturally important sites.
Greenpeace falsely claimed that Energy Transfer disturbed sacred and culturally important sites, which is false. The Dakota Access Pipeline’s route was carefully planned to avoid historically and culturally significant sites, including by consulting with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.
The Army Corps of Engineers, in conjunction with the Historical Society of North Dakota, found that the pipeline affected no historic properties. Additionally, findings from the Historical Society of North Dakota concluded that there was “no evidence of infractions … with respect to disturbance of human remains or significant sites,” as a result of the project.
